FAQs

Q. How long is each physical therapy session?

A. We pride ourselves on providing 60-minute sessions for every visit. This applies for both first time and all follow-up appointments. All sessions are one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

Q. Do I need a prescription for physical therapy?

A. Not necessarily! New York State allows direct access which means patients can be seen directly by a physical therapist without a referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. Certain health insurance plans still require a referral. We will inform you if you need a referral.

Q. Do you accept insurance?

A. Yes! We accept most insurance plans with out-of-network coverage. Please fill out the new clients form on our 'book an appointment' page. Someone from our team will verify your insurance coverage and determine the cost of treatment.

Q. What if I do not have out-of-network insurance coverage?

A. If it's determined that your specific insurance plan will not cover treatments with us, we will work together to determine an out-of-pocket payment plan that works for you.

Q. What should I bring to my first appointment?

A. Please bring/wear loose-fitting, comfortable athletic attire (including sneakers) that will allow the affected area to be exposed if necessary for the therapist to complete their evaluation. Please also bring copies of any prescriptions, relevant imaging reports, and documents from your referring MD.

Q. How do I know if I'm a better fit for physical therapy or personal training?

A. Our team will work with you to determine what services you would benefit from the most and how to best build a plan of care to help you reach your individual goals. During your initial evaluation, your therapist will discuss a game plan for treatment as well as anticipated timelines. Most of our patients receive a hybrid approach of both physical therapy and personal training, mainly dependent on their level of pain and entry point into the Pillar Performance network.
